Vindicta Focus is a new Vindicta Digital blog series that touches on the stories of the amazing individuals behind our agency. From developers and designers to content creators, those dedicated to client success & beyond, every month, we’ll get to the heart our team so you can get to know us a little bit better and find out what makes us tick.

This months feature is on Ryan.  Ryan is an integral part of our video production team at Vindicta Digital.

Let’s Begin…..

Tell me a little about your background prior to joining the company? Education, jobs, life experiences etc

I’ve always had a passion for video production and the creative arts.

This passion lead me to a postgrad in Media Production at the University of Ulster which I’m very happy to have received a 2:1. I was drawn in to the technical side of editing at university including Photoshop, colour grading for digital video, and graphic animation, as well as taught theory-based modules on society, culture and the humanities. I was able to study in America for a year through and got to undertake some really interesting subjects including ‘Native American History’, ‘Philosophy’ and the ‘Grateful Dead and American Culture’. I made some truly amazing friends who’ve had the pleasure of visiting NI.

I learnt a lot at University and the same can be said for technical college where I received an HND in Media Studies at Ballynahinch. Leading up to my role at Vindicta I had shot music videos and produced wedding films while working many part time jobs, but I’m glad to finally be a part of a company that is excelling in the media industry with a team who have the same passion and vision for creating commercial content.

What attracted you to joining Vindicta as a Video Producer?

Instantly Vindicta resonated with me. I had the potential to be a part of an incredible digital marketing firm using my skills in video editing and photography for a company renowned nationally for its SEO.

I couldn’t miss the opportunity.

What do you hope to achieve with Vindicta?

My plan is to be a part of the continual growth of the company and create media content which draws in viewers across all audiences. I have a particular eye for quality in resolution, definition, story arc and accessibility and I wish to grow these skills further for clients who want to successfully advertise and promote their businesses.

What is the biggest thing that you want to achieve in the next 5 years?

I expect to see our video department grow exponentially and become a solidified entity for promotional video marketing for all businesses out there. I strive to work on larger projects with bigger budgets to effectively advertise the companies who need promoted effectively and efficiently, and in doing so, grow their presence online and bring attention to their businesses.

Media attention can do wonders for any organisation out there.

What do you see are the key challenges for companies that do not have a strong digital presence?

If a company wishes to excel in their business it should have a well-developed website, high ranking SEO, Google Ads and video marketing through its socials and other media channels encouraging its services and engaging with its customer base.

I see companies who don’t do this eventually dwindle and burn out due to the nature of not having an online presence.

Not to mention an increase in the chances of businesses appearing less valid and professional. If you want to see results, get into marketing and get into promoting.

Who do you look up to and why? Can be business or not business-related

David Gilmour, lead guitarist and vocalist for Pink Floyd. This determined English-born musician from Cambridge was a late member to one of the most successful British rock bands in history and pathed the way for a new era of musicians globally. I admire Gilmour as both an artist and a leader.

Although arriving late to the band, he managed to help steer the power horse right up until the 90’s, that’s 30 years of devotion and commitment to perfecting his craft with a drive to push through the mishaps and meanderings that affected the group. Gilmour dedicated his life to his work, and in the same way, I wish to dedicate mine to my work.

Art isn’t just a painting on a wall or funny bit of furniture, it’s everywhere, it’s the way in which you produce and present your own creativity in your job.

When not working how do you spend your time?

I always try to look for new interests in life be it travelling, a book to read or a new airbnb to stay with my fiancé. If there’s something new and exciting to do, I’ll do it.

I’m always on the lookout for new music and I’d say this is passion number two after my media. Learning things intrigues me such as musical scales on the guitar which can be very rewarding. Anything that has a creative flare I will most likely jump at the opportunity.
